WHAT NEXT FOR TIGER?

Tiger Woods crashed out of the World Golf Championships Match Play in the second round itself as he lost the match to Nick Watney. Putting woes let Tiger Woods down as he continued to struggle throughout the match and ultimately Nick Watney made the best out of Tiger Woods’ mistakes and troubles.

The loss in the second round itself means that it has nearly been 4 years since he made it past the second round in any tournament. The last time he moved up to the third round was in 2008. This is extremely bad news for Tiger Woods who has been struggling badly ever since his return after the much publicized scandal.

The stalwarts of the tournament, such as Lee Westwood, Rory Mcilroy and Martin Kaymer all progressed to the next round after recording comfortable wins over their opponents.

Tiger Woods lost the match because of his putting troubles. He almost made a comeback after he was two down with three more to play in order to force the extra holes but he did not manage a five footer shot on the eighteenth hole and thus the match was not extended. It was one of the six misses for Tiger Woods who is a fourteen time major champion, now a mere shadow of the glorious self. He was not pleased with the greens of the Dove Mountain Course and commented that the course was grainy and that others were having difficulties too. He said that he asked around and found out that other players were also finding it tough to get a read on the course.

He also admitted that his technique was flawed and needed to be worked upon. He said that his putter was troubling him throughout the day and he just was not getting it right. Despite noticing the fact that Tiger Woods was being troubled by the putter, Nick Watney said that he was shocked to find that the match didn’t go to extra holes.

Tiger Woods is trying his best to get his form back and get back to his old winning ways. It remains to be seen how long it takes for the former champion to make a mark in the sport again.

TIGER FINALLY GETS HIS WIN

Tiger Woods finally ended his career draught with a superb win at the Chevron World Challenge. He hit a perfect birdie to end all criticism regarding his form and game. Tiger Woods when asked whether it was vindication, relief or satisfaction that he felt immediately after putting the winning stroke, said he wasn’t really sure, but whatever it was it felt awesome.

The Chevron World Championship is hosted by Tiger Woods for his foundation, the Tiger Woods Foundation. He had started out on the championship with a lot of hope and expectations riding on his back and in spite of being in contention for two previous tournaments, Woods finally clinched the title. In his win, he defeated the former champion Zach Johnson by one shot.

Woods was trailing by a shot with just two holes left to play, when he came up with the two clutch putts. He tied up with Johnson when he holed a 15-footer on the par-3 17th. He finished it off with élan by hitting a 9-iron from 158 yards. With this win, he improved his world ranking from No. 52 to No. 21 and set the mood for the tournaments in 2012.

Chevron World Championship was Tiger Woods’ 83rd win in a tournament that awards ranking points. However it was his first since the Australian Masters which he won on Nov. 15, 2009, at a time when it seemed that nothing could stop him from ending his winning streak. Soon his car accident happened, which brought out his extramarital affairs, caused him to get a divorce and lose three important sponsors. Since all that time, Woods has matured and has grown up, leaving his messy past and starting on a new note which would be consolidated by his latest win at the Chevron World Challenge.
